Description

The gate piers and screen walls at the entrance to Waterloo Promenade were built in the mid to late 19th century. They are constructed from ashlar stone and feature cast-iron railings. The structure includes two square piers with chamfered corners and moulded plinths, topped with large square caps that have enriched segmental pediments. The caps also hold the remains of cast-iron lamps. Between the piers, there is a low ashlar screen wall, approximately 6 meters long, which is topped with a shortened railing. This entrance is one of several similar gateways and screens designed by Nottingham Corporation for the entrances to the Forest and Waterloo Promenade.
