Description
This memorial bust, dating from around 1890, is located 50 meters northwest of the Castle Museum in Nottingham. It commemorates Major Jonathan White, who lived from 1804 to 1889. The life-size bronze bust is mounted on a square, tapered pink granite pedestal that stands approximately 1.5 meters high. The pedestal features a bronze foliage wreath and ribbon encircling its base. The bust is signed, but the signature is illegible. Major White was the first commander of the Robin Hood Rifles, a volunteer regiment established in 1859.
