Description
The steps leading to the terrace on the east side of the Castle Museum in Nottingham were constructed between 1674 and 1679, likely designed by Samuel Marsh for the first Duke of Newcastle. Made of ashlar, the plain steps are approximately 3 meters wide and feature low flanking walls. At the landing, there are four pedestals topped with urns. These steps, along with the nearby gate piers, served as the main approach to the principal entrance and are part of the original architectural scheme of the Ducal palace.
