Description
Nos. 2 and 2A on Stoney Street are two houses that have been converted into houses and shops. They were built in the early 19th century and underwent alterations in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are made of red brick with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs with two gable stacks. They have a plinth, a first-floor sill band, and dentillated eaves. The structure has three storeys and a three-window range.
The ground floor includes a central doorway topped with a cornice keystone. On either side of the doorway are wooden shopfronts from around 1880, which have pilasters and cornices. The right shopfront features a three-light mullioned shop window, while the left has a recessed side door. Above the shopfronts, to the right, is a four-light glazing bar cross casement window from the early 19th century, and to the left are two glazing bar sash windows. On the upper floor, there are three similar glazing bar sash windows. All of these sash windows have wedge lintels with cornice keystones.
