Description

This house, now comprising two shops and flats, was likely built around 1830. It was later altered in the late 19th century and the 20th century. The property is constructed of red brick with a slate mansard roof and two brick gable stacks. It has three storeys plus attic space and originally featured a three-window front. A late 19th-century wooden shopfront with round-cornered plate glass windows and side entrances is located on the left-hand side of the ground floor. A mid-20th century shopfront is positioned to the right. Above the ground floor, the first and second floors each have three glazing bar sashes, set within brick flat arches. Three raking dormers, also with glazing bar windows, are visible in the attic level. It is believed that the house was originally built for the owner of a nearby lace factory.
