Description
The Golden Fleece Public House is a public house built around 1845, with alterations made in the mid-20th century and restoration in the late 20th century. It is constructed of red brick, featuring ashlar and brick dressings, and has a gabled and hipped slate roof with single gable and ridge stacks. The building has a glazed brick plinth, a ground floor impost band, and a wooden eaves cornice. Most of the windows are original glazing bar sashes. The structure is three storeys high with two sets of two bays and is situated on a corner site with a rounded corner entrance bay. The ground floor includes a corner doorway, which is flanked by casement windows under a fascia and lamps, all dating from the late 20th century. On the first floor, there is a large curved corner window, with two windows with cast-iron balconies to the left and a blank wall and another window to the right. Above this, there is a blank wall at the corner and two small windows on each return, all featuring brick flat arches. The interior has been refitted in the mid and late 20th century and retains few original features.
