Description
Two houses with attached external corridors, built in 1888-89 by Watson Fothergill of Nottingham. The houses are constructed of red brick with blue brick and ashlar dressings, and have a rock-faced stone basement. They have gabled and hipped plain tile roofs with a cast-iron crest and two central coped ridge stacks. The buildings are two storeys plus a basement and attics, with a four-window front. The main front, which faces the gardens, is symmetrical and features a projecting central section with a hipped roof. The basement has arched openings flanked by single windows. The ground floor has a central round-arched opening, flanked by tripartite plain sash windows with stone shafts; the left window is bowed and sits under a common hipped roof. Side bays have paired sash windows with stone shafts. The first floor has two wooden bay windows with four lights, each with a hipped roof and composite sashes. The side bays also have similar windows, with three lights. Attics have a strip of timber framing with brick nogging and two hipped through-eaves dormers, each with three lights. The rear of the building includes a glazed external corridor with a coped gable and a shouldered doorway with shafts. A garage door has been inserted into the right-hand corridor. Between the corridors is an original hipped outbuilding, single-storey in height.
