Description
The gateways and railings at the south entrance to Nottingham High School were built around 1866. They are made of ashlar, rock-faced stone, and cast and wrought iron. The structure features two chamfered square ashlar piers that have pointed arched panels and pyramidal caps. Between these piers are single bays of railing and a central pair of gates, which are adorned with traceried cast-iron piers. Both the railings and gates have traceried tops. On each side, there are small side gates with iron openwork piers. Further along, there are two bays of spearhead railing on the right and four bays on the left, all set on a rock-faced stone plinth with chamfered coping. The total length of the structure is approximately 50 meters.
