Description

The structure consists of a gate, gate piers, and a wall located in front of and to the east of No 24, Castle Street, known as Castle House. These features date from the 18th or 19th century and are made of rusticated stucco with caps and urns on the gate piers. The contemporary cast-iron gates have a simple design with arrow-head shafts. To the right, there is a section of wall, likely from the early 19th century, which rises to about eight feet and is constructed of red brick with plain stone coping. The right-hand section of the wall is approximately four feet high and features brick piers at intervals, each topped with plain caps. This structure is included for its group value with other listed buildings in Castle Street, Castle View, and Castle Yard, as well as Skeffington House, the Iron Gates, Chantry House, and Newarke Wall, all located in The Newarke.
