Description

Nos. 5 and 6, Castle View, are a pair of mid-18th century red brick houses built as a single building. They have two storeys and three windows. The ground floor windows have outside shutters and are fitted with sash windows containing glazing bars, all set within exposed casings. The windows are topped with segmental brick arches. The rectangular doorcases contain six-panel doors and traceried fanlights. The roof is slate-covered with gable ends, and there is a moulded wood eaves cornice. Nos. 5 and 6 adjoin No. 7. The buildings form a group with Nos. 1-4 Castle Street, Castle View, Castle Yard, Skeffington House, the Iron Gates, Chantry House and Newarke Wall, all located within The Newarke.
