Description

Nos 3 and 4 Iron Gate are late 19th-century buildings designed in the Gothic style. They are constructed from russet brick with stone dressings and rise to four storeys. The facade features six sash windows with pointed arched heads, supported by pilasters with foliated capitals. Below the first-storey windows, there are polychrome tiles arranged in panels, which continue as a band at the second storey. The sides and centre of the building are accentuated by brick pilasters, and there is a moulded cornice at the third floor. The third storey is distinguished by five-light brick mullioned windows, also with pointed arched heads, and the building is topped with a stone-coped parapet. Modern shop fronts have been inserted into the ground floor.
