Description

The war memorial, located adjacent to St Helen's House, was constructed around 1920 and is likely the work of Sir Reginald Blomfield. It is made of Portland stone ashlar and features an octagonal base with three moulded steps. The base is canted and square, supporting a square pedestal that has an inscribed stone tablet on one face and bronze plaques on the other sides. The memorial includes a moulded cornice and a square obelisk that is supported by four balls. A bronze wreath is positioned at the front, with additional bronze plaques on the other sides. This memorial honors former pupils of Derby Grammar School who lost their lives in the 20th century World Wars.
