Description

The Roman Catholic Church of St Mary, built in 1838, is designed by architect Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin and is notable for its ashlar construction in the 15th-century Gothic style. The church features a nave with an apse and aisles, and a west tower, which is actually positioned to the south, topped with a tall slender spire. The church, along with No 11, forms a group with St Helen's House on King Street.
