Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres east of Ball Park Farmhouse, is likely from the late 17th century or early 18th century and has been altered over time. It is built of coursed squared sandstone, with some brick patching at the rear, and features a corrugated sheet roof. The barn has a rectangular five-bay plan.
On the west side, there is a central square-headed wagon entrance with a timber lintel and wooden double doors. Flanking this entrance are two square pitching doors at loft level, along with slit breathers on two levels. The south gable wall includes a doorway near the front corner, a small window at low level to the right, and additional slit breathers on two levels. The rear of the barn, which has been partly rebuilt in brick, contains a blocked wagon doorway at the south end and two blocked doorways at the north end.
Inside, the barn features a stone flagged threshing floor, four principal-rafter roof trusses of large scantling (one of which has raked struts), and two pairs of trenched purlins. The former loft floors have been removed.
