Description
The Galverley and Crawshaw monuments, located approximately 10 metres south of the Church of St. Michael and Our Lady, are two raised slabs dating from around 1680. They commemorate Thomas Galverley, who died in 1679, and William Crawshaw, who died in 1680. Made of sandstone, the monument for Thomas Galverley features a low solid base, while the monument for William Crawshaw is raised on two low scrolled pedestals. Both slabs have short inscriptions in crudely formed capitals, with the inscription for Thomas Galverley including the phrase "AND.ELIN HIS.WIFE".
