Description
3 and 5 Shaw Fold is a house comprised of two sections. The southern bay dates from the 17th century and may have originally been part of No 1. The remainder of the building is from the late 18th century, with the west front modified to create a nearly symmetrical appearance. The house is two stories tall and features six windows, with the outer pairs set under gables. It is constructed of coursed squared stone and has flagged roofs, with the right gable (from the 17th century) having a steeper pitch. The sash windows, which have glazing bars (many of which have been replaced), feature flush lintels and projecting cills, and still retain their original internal shutters. There is a four-panel door located in the third bay, with another door inserted in the fifth bay. The east front is irregular, rendered, and has a cross-gable at the north end.
