Description

Blenheim Terrace Number 2, now used as an office, is a terraced house built in 1830 with alterations made in the late 19th century and a conversion in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall with a basement and is two windows wide. The round-headed doorway is located on the left, framed by a moulded architrave with a fanlight and keyblock above. The windows have flat brick arches and stone sills, with a mix of 4-pane and plate-glass sashes. A ridge stack is positioned on the right side of the roof. The interior has not been inspected.

A notable feature is the boundary wall on the south side of the frontage along Blackman Lane, which is approximately 25 meters long and 1 meter high, made of brick with a flat stone coping. Blenheim Terrace was the first roadside terrace built in Leeds, constructed on a field known as New Close. The solicitor T.E. Upton purchased the field in 1824 and built Nos 19-21 by 1826; Nos 2, 3, and 4 were completed in 1830, with the rest of the terrace finished between 1834 and 1839.
