There are two raised grave slabs located approximately 5 meters south of the chancel of St Mary's Church. One slab is dedicated to Gregory Tomlinson, who died on November 26, 1681, at the age of 36. This slab features a carved arched head with an impost, a keystone, and trumpeting angels set in the spandrels. The other slab is for John Scott, who died on August 17, 1744, at the age of 73. It is inscribed with "HERE LYETH THE BODY OF JOHN SCOTT OF NEW-LAYTHES IN THE PARISH OF WOOD KIRK." The slabs are made of ashlar stone and include a carved heart motif and the initials "GT" below the inscription on Tomlinson's grave.
