Description
This is a former animal shelter, also known as a field barn, dating to 1749. It is located on Haigh Moor Road, in Morley. Originally a barn with a hay loft above, it has since been converted into a dwelling, and the roof timbers have been replaced. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with stone slate roof coverings, and has quoins. The east front features a single doorway with a plank stable door on the left, and a hay loft opening above and to the right. The north gable has a tall hay loft opening. The west front has two doorways at either end; the left-hand doorway has been converted into a window, and the right-hand doorway retains a large stone lintel originally inscribed “J & W. 1749”. There are some additional later openings to the building.
