Description
The Round House is a late 18th-century tower windmill that has been converted into a house in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble and features a wrought-iron railing along the parapet. The tall four-storey tower retains its structure, with what may be the original entrance located on the east side, which has a large lintel. There are tiers of windows on three sides, and some of the openings have tie-stone jambs that suggest a mid-18th-century date. The cap that once held the sails and gearing is missing, and the position of the walkway above the entrance level is indicated by a slight step-in in the coursing. The interior has not been inspected.
