Description

The Swift Craft Moorings Warehouse is a canal warehouse located approximately 25 meters northwest of Underwood Cottage, fronting the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of two cells. It features quoins and flat-faced mullioned windows, with a three-light window on the left and a four-light window on the right, both of which have a two-light window above. All windows are currently blocked. Between the windows, there is a taking-in door with monolithic jambs on each floor, which is also blocked. A gable stack is positioned to the right, while the rear of the building is plain, except for taking-in doors similar to those at the front. The warehouse was likely used for wool storage by Thomas Leavens, a wool stapler from Apperley Bridge, as noted in E. Garnett's "A Short History of St. Wilfrid's Church Calverley" from 1977.
