Description

Blenheim Terrace Number 17, with gate piers and boundary walls, is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built between 1834 and 1839 and underwent conversion in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. It is two storeys tall with a basement and an added attic storey. The facade is symmetrical, featuring five first-floor windows. There are stone steps leading up to a central glazed door, which is framed by a stone surround with fluted columns that support an entablature and pediment. The flanking and first-floor windows have flat brick arches and stone sills, and they are fitted with plate-glass sashes. The building has 20th-century dormers, stone bands at the ground and first-floor levels, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. There are end stacks on the roof.

The interior has not been inspected. The subsidiary features include stone gate piers that are approximately 2 meters high, square in section, tapering, and topped with a pedimented capstone featuring laurel wreaths in relief. The boundary walls flanking the piers and on the northern side of the forecourt are made of brick with roll-moulded stone coping and are approximately 1 meter high. For further historical context, see No.2 Blenheim Terrace on Woodhouse Lane.
