Description
Blenheim Terrace Number 16, known as Richmond House, is a house that has been converted into an office. It was built between 1834 and 1839 and underwent conversion in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. It has two storeys with a basement and an added attic storey, displaying a symmetrical facade with five first-floor windows.
The entrance features stone steps leading to a central panelled door set within a stone porch. This porch is supported by fluted Corinthian or Egyptian columns and is topped with an entablature, a dentilled cornice, and a pediment. The windows have flat brick arches, stone sills, and are fitted with sashes that include glazing bars. There are also 20th-century dormers. The building has stone bands at both the ground and first-floor levels, a stone eaves cornice, and a blocking course, along with end stacks.
Although the interior has not been inspected, there are notable subsidiary features outside. The bases of the stone gate piers remain, and the walls flanking the gate piers and on the northern side of the forecourt are made of brick with stone roll-moulded coping, standing approximately 1 meter high. For further historical context, refer to Number 2 Blenheim Terrace on Woodhouse Lane.
