Description
The former lodge to The Grange, dated 1838 and altered in the 20th century, was built for William Beckett. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a stone slate roof. This one and a half storey building has three bays and is designed in a Tudor style. The central entrance is located in a full-height gabled projection and includes a 20th-century glazed door set in a moulded surround, with a lintel that has raised lettering reading 'WB 1838' and a hoodmould above. There are diamond windows in the gable, flanked by three-light mullioned windows that also have hoodmoulds and a moulded continuous sill band. The building is adorned with kneelers, gable copings, banded pyramid finials, and a central square ridge stack with four diagonal flues. Additionally, two dormer windows have been added. On the right return, there are three-light windows on both the ground and upper floors. The interior has not been inspected.
