Cavendish Hall Leeds Metropolitan University

Cavendish Hall is a hall of residence built in 1911 by GW Atkinson, located at Leeds Metropolitan University. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar details and features a slate hipped roof. It has three storeys and five unequal bays arranged with windows in the pattern of 3, 5, 1, 5, and 3. Designed in a Classical 'Wrennaissance' style, it is one of seven halls situated to the south of the main building. The central and outer bays project forward, and the ground floor has an ashlar plinth with brick quoins and rustication.

The central entrance features three-panel double doors with interlaced glazing bars above, flanked by attached fluted columns. There is a triglyph frieze above the entablature, a modillion cornice, and a balustrade above. The upper-floor windows are set in ashlar panels with eared architraves and keystones, and small-pane sash windows are found throughout, located in round-arched recesses on the upper floors. A band runs along the first floor, and the end and central bays are topped with pediments and decorated tall brick ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
