Description
Caedmon Hall is a hall of residence built in 1911 by G.W. Atkinson, located at Leeds Metropolitan University. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate hipped roof, designed in a Classical 'Wrennaissance' style. It is one of a group of seven halls situated to the south of the main building, James Graham Hall.
The structure has three storeys and five unequal bays, with window arrangements of 3, 5, 1, 5, and 3. The outer bays and the central entrance bay are accentuated with brick banding and pilasters. The entrance features panelled double doors and a triangular-pane overlight set within an architrave topped by a segmental pediment, with windows above framed in a stone panel. The upper floors have small-pane windows set in round-arched recesses. The building is finished with a modillion eaves cornice, small pediments at each end and in the centre, and banded brick ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
