House, now offices, with basement railings. c1800. Red brick, slate roof, wrought-iron railings. 3 storeys and basement, 3 first-floor windows. Central panelled door in stone surround with fanlight and cornice; round-arched entrance far right. Wide segmental-arched windows, sashes with glazing bars, centre windows sashes, flanking windows tripartite sashes, stone sills. Stone band at 1st-floor level. Wooden eaves cornice with gutter brackets, end stacks. INTERIOR: now part of the office complex extending from Nos 40-44 (qv); the staircase rises to the 2nd floor and has plain rails, column newels and ramped handrail; also reputed to contain original fireplace in one ground floor room. Plain railings. One of the later houses built on the Wilson estate for merchants moving out of the congested medieval town centre.
