Description

Rigg House (Number 40) and Stone Lea are a pair of houses, originally one dwelling, built in the mid-18th century and later converted into two separate residences in the 20th century. They are constructed of coursed stone, which has been rendered, with a low-pitched stone slate roof featuring coped gable ends and shaped kneelers. The houses have quoins. The facade is arranged with two storeys and five windows, each set within a plain stone architrave. A central fielded-panel door, with a three-pane overlight in a plain stone architrave, provides access to Number 40. End stacks are present. The main entrance is situated within Number 40, while the entrance to Number 42 is located in a lower, two-storey bay which is set back on the right-hand side. The interior has not been inspected.
