Description
The Mortuary Chapel at Armley Cemetery, built in 1886 by JP Pritchett, is a cemetery chapel designed in the Gothic Revival style. It features coursed rock-faced stone and a steep-pitched slate roof with coped gables and kneelers, along with a cross finial on the east side. The nave includes four two-light Perpendicular traceried windows set between buttresses, while the small canted apse to the east has three lancet windows. There is a southeast gabled porch and a west tower that has two diminishing stages, topped by an octagonal open belfry with ogee-headed openings, crocketed pinnacles, and a stone polygonal spire. The west front showcases a pointed-arched doorway with double plank doors, and the side fronts have single lancet windows. The interior has not been inspected.
