Description

Redcote Canal Bridge, also known as Bridge 224, is a canal bridge built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a basket arch with chamfered rustication on the voussoirs. There is a band at road level, and the bridge has a triple keystone that extends up to the parapet as a projecting block. Square-section bollards with flattened pyramid caps are also present. This bridge historically facilitated access from Armley House, the residence of Benjamin Gott, to Kirkstall Road and the mills located in the valley below.
