Description
The fountain in Armley Park, dated 1897, is constructed from ashlar and carved stone. It features an octagonal pool with an ashlar retaining wall that has a moulded base and coping. On the southwest side, there is a plaque inscribed with: "ERECTED BY WILLIAM HENRY GOTT/ OF ARMLEY HOUSE/ IN COMMEMORATION OF THE SIXTIETH/ YEAR OF THE REIGN OF HER MAJESTY/ 1837. QUEEN VICTORIA. 1897." In the center of the pool, the octagonal fountain is adorned with fluted pilasters, a reeded stem, and a gadrooned bowl that has lions' heads around the rim.
