Description
Hilton Court is a house dating to around 1840, constructed with ashlar facing and a slate hipped roof. It has two storeys and three bays, with the central bay set back. This recessed section features two fluted Ionic columns in antis framing the entrance, a balustraded balcony on the first floor, and two square columns in antis supporting an entablature. The flanking bays have two ground-floor windows each, with a continuous cornice supported by console brackets. The first-floor windows are set within moulded architraves and are complemented by stone-balustraded balconies. All windows are tall casements with glazing bars, and the building features a blocking course, cornice, and grouped octagonal chimney stacks. A two-storey rear stable wing, with six windows (two of which are blind), is notable for its wide segmental arch at ground floor. The left return has four windows, with the centre slightly recessed. The interior is reported to contain a staircase with cast-iron balusters, an open well with a segmental barrel vault, a small circular hall with a moulded frieze, a modillion cornice and elliptical archways.
