Description
The Parish Church of the Holy Spirit is an Anglican church built in 1903 by architects F Bedford and S Kitson. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone with ashlar details and features a slate roof with gable copings. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, the church has a 5-bay nave and chancel that share a single roof, along with full-length north and south aisles. The base of an unfinished northwest corner tower is also present.
The church features wide four-light aisle windows set in flattened pointed arches, with gabled buttresses positioned between them. There is a segmental arch leading to a recessed doorway at the eastern end. The east window is notable for its seven lights and elaborate decorated tracery, set within a shallow projecting panel that rises to a stepped gable, topped by a statue in a niche above. At the western end, there are two two-light windows with square hoodmoulds. The interior has not been inspected.
