Description
Hillside is a farmhouse, now a house, likely dating from the early 17th century, with a stone casing added in the later 17th century, and subsequently altered. It is constructed of coursed magnesian limestone blocks with a pantile roof. The building originally had a three-cell linear plan, with what was formerly a lobby entry that has since been altered. The house is one and a half storeys high. At the junction of the first and second cells, a two-light sliding sash window has been inserted, replacing a former doorway, with a large rectangular lintel above it. To the right of this is an inserted doorway sheltered by a pantiled canopy, while the first cell to the left features a small square window and a larger two-light sliding sash, with a gabled dormer window above. The second cell has a smaller two-light window, and the third cell has a two-light window and another gabled dormer. The steeply pitched roof has a ridge chimney aligned with the former doorway, and another chimney at the right gable. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to contain some evidence of an earlier timber-framed building.
