Description
The University of Leeds Geography Annexe, formerly known as Lifton House, is a house built between 1847 and 1849, likely by the first occupant, Benjamin Burrell. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with stone details and features a slate hipped roof. The building has two storeys and five bays, with a plinth and quoins. There are steps with bull-nose treads leading to a central panelled double door set in a stone surround, which includes pilasters, consoles, and a pediment. The windows are plate-glass sashes, with tall windows on the ground floor that have stone aprons below; the first floor has a continuous sill band and stone sills, with flat rubbed brick arches above. The eaves cornice is present, and there is an eaves stack on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
