Description

The Former Jacob Kramer College is a Grade II listed building located on Kildare Terrace in Leeds. Built in 1884 by Richard Adams for the Leeds School Board, this former board school is designed in the Gothic Revival style. The structure is made of red brick and features extensive moulded and cut brick decoration, stone door and window lintels, and a slate roof.

The building consists of two storeys over a basement, with a clear division between the 'Boys'/'Junior Boys' and 'Infants'/'Girls' departments, expressed through two large three-bay hipped-roof blocks that have gabled entrance bays at each end. The windows are characterized by pointed arches with hoodmoulds that extend around as string courses on the ground floor, while the upper floor features arched windows. The entrances are adorned with carved lintels and tall traceried overlights. Decorative elements include characteristic tumbled brickwork in the window arches, a moulded eaves cornice, and tall ridge stacks. Staircases are located in the entrance bays. The interior has not been inspected.
