Description
This is a barn located at the rear of numbers 45 and 47 on Church Lane in Gomersal, built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared rock-faced stone and features a stone slate roof. The barn consists of three bays, with the central bay projecting forward under a pediment. The corners are accentuated with quoins.
The openings of the barn have dressed stone surrounds with raised panels, and there are side and rear doorways that include tie-stones. The tall central cart entry is round-arched and features a double board door along with an elliptical, boarded fanlight. Above the pediment, there is a lunette with a ledge and radial glazing bars. Each of the outer bays has a board door on the outer side and a central circular pitching hole with a board door above it. The barn has plain gutter brackets and a coped pediment, topped with a hipped roof.
At the rear, there is a plinth and a central threshing doorway with a board stable door, flanked by sets of triple arched vents. The right return has two sets of paired arched vents. Inside, the barn contains four trusses with king posts and V-struts, along with a ridge piece.
