Description
Lane Side House is a detached house, likely dating to the 17th or early 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with chamfered gable copings on carved kneelers. The house is two storeys high and originally had four bays, featuring a continuous drip moulding above the ground-floor openings. A two-storey gabled porch, built of deeply coursed dressed stone, is situated to the front; the upper floor is corbelled out on a moulded band at the level of the drip moulding and contains a three-light chamfered window. A later doorway has been added. The ground floor windows are double-chamfered; the two bays to the left each have a five-light window, while the bay to the right has a five-light window to the ground floor and a three-light window to the first floor. Similarly, the first floor of the left bays have four-light windows. The rear and sides of the house have been rendered and altered, and there is an outshut to the rear.
