Description

This is a row of late 18th or early 19th century buildings on Spring Street, constructed of ashlar stone with a pitched stone slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high and feature stone brackets supporting the gutters. Nos. 50-56 have modillioned eaves cornices, while Nos. 42, 52-56 have a continuous band. Each building has two ranges of sash windows. The frontages vary: No. 40 has a single door with four moulded panels; No. 42 has two doors, each with four moulded panels; No. 54 has a single door with three moulded panels; No. 48 features a recessed trabeated carriage entrance; and No. 56 has a raised plank passage entrance. Cast iron area railings with spear finials run along the front of Nos. 50-56, with Nos. 54’s railings also incorporating urn finials.
