Description

This is an 18th-century house and barn situated near Holt Head, Slaithwaite. The house is rendered, while the barn is constructed of coursed rubble and hammer-dressed stone, with quoins. Both structures have pitched stone slate roofs and coped gables. The house has footstones. The east elevation of the house features, on the ground floor, a single recessed 5-light stone mullioned window, and on the first floor two 3-light stone mullioned windows. The north gable has an entrance within a modern porch. The west elevation of the house is set into the earth bank. Part of the barn has been rebuilt with hammer-dressed stone. The east elevation of the barn includes a large doorway with a semi-circular arched head, partially blocked, and a stone surround; it also has a single-light window. The west elevation of the barn contains three single openings at a high level.
