SE 1508 TOTTIES LANE 13/327 (Totties)

Nos 33, 35, 37 and 39 GV II*

H-plan large house, now 4 dwellings. Dated 1684. Hammer dressed millstone grit. Stone slate roof with chamfered gable copings on moulded kneelers and small parapets. Three ashlar stacks with moulded strings. Two storeys and attic. Symmetrical facade. Continuous drip moulding above ground and first floor windows. All windows are double chamfered. Central part of 3 bays with central doorway with arched, shaped lintel, inscribed: I (for Jackson) H K Cross window to left and right, both floors. Single light above door. Two bay gabled cross-wing to each side each with cross windows to both floors and single cross window to attics. Mullions and transoms removed from right wing and both attic windows. Later doorway to left wing. Right elevation has twin gables, and single storey stone porch doorway with shaped lintel dated 1684. Porch has parapet with stone spout and one 2-light doubel chamfered window with mullion removed. Adjacent to porch is entrance with deep, arched lintel with stone canopy with moulded support on left. Rear elevation is altered, with 2 single storey extensions. Several original windows survive. Interior not inspected.
