Description
Croft House Farm Barn is a cruck-framed barn dating from the 16th century or earlier, with cladding from the 17th or early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble and features quoins and a stone slate roof. There is an entrance on the left side and an outshut extension on the right. A rear entrance has a chamfered surround and a timber lintel, positioned opposite the main doorway. The barn originally had two cruck trusses, which include an upper collar and lever holes, supported on stone footings. One of the crucks has been truncated, and its upper part has been replaced by a queen-post system. This barn is referenced in "Early Timbered Buildings of the Huddersfield District" by James Walton, published in 1955.
