Description
Ivy Cottage is a house located at the end of a later row, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with quoins and features a stone slate roof, gable copings on moulded kneelers, and an ashlar gable stack. The building has two storeys and a square string course between the floors. It is designed with two bays and has three-light chamfered windows with recessed mullions.
On the left gable, there is a 19th-century stone extension that includes the original doorway, which has a chamfered surround and an arched lintel. At the rear, there is an outshut extension of similar age. A small semi-circular addition, which is thought to have been an oven, has a blocked access from within, featuring a small false arch and a stone sill, although the chimney is missing. The first floor originally had two 2-light double chamfered windows on the left gable, and one on the right, but these have now been removed.
Inside, there is an oak panelled partition, and the roof features a king post truss with struts and bracing, with the king post extended to support the ridge piece.
