Offices At Birkby Grange

The Offices at Birkby Grange, dating from the mid or late 18th century, are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature a pitched stone slate roof. The building has coped gables supported by cut kneelers. The principal section, located at the south end, is three stories tall. Its main façade faces east and includes two ranges of sash windows with glazing bars, which frame a depressed arched carriage entrance complete with a keystone and impost blocks. There is a blocked window on the first floor, and on the second floor, a panelled loading door is adorned with impost blocks, keystones, and a semi-circular fanlight featuring Gothick glazing bars.

The south elevation displays four ranges of three-light stone mullioned sash windows. The remaining offices are two stories high and have an L-shaped layout. They include one two-light stone mullioned window on the first floor and one three-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, along with three doors and a glazed carriage arch in the west range. The north range features a stable door with two sunk panels, flanked by contemporary stable windows with glazing bars, two first-floor windows with glazing bars, and modern garage doors. An oculus with four keystones is located at the east end. The courtyard is paved with cobbles and stone setts.
