Description
Nos 1, 2, 3, and 4 on Carr Lane form a farm terrace that originated in the late 18th century but was largely developed in the early to mid 19th century. The buildings are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature quoins on the northeast gable. The roof is made of turned stone slate and there are five rendered stacks.
The terrace includes four doorways from the 19th century, one of which is in a recent porch. There are also two blocked doorways with deep lintels. The windows consist of two 4-light and three 3-light stone mullioned windows, some of which have been altered, including rendered surrounds and mullions, as well as one modern bow window. On the first floor, the house on the left (No 4) has three 2-light windows that are likely part of a larger 10-light window. Additionally, there are six 3-light windows, five of which have one blocked light. The mullions and surrounds of these windows are rendered. To the left of the terrace is a late 19th-century addition and a barn, which are not included in this listing.
