Description

Hillside Cottage is a pair of late 18th- and early 19th-century houses, with a slightly later upper floor addition. The houses are built of hammer-dressed stone, with some quoins, and have stone slate roofs with gable copings. They feature two ashlar stacks to each dwelling; those on the left house include a string, small cornice, and rounded cap. Stone brackets support the gutter along the eaves. The house on the left is set back from the road. It has a central doorway with a single light window above it, and a three-light window to the left and right on both the ground and first floors. The second floor was formerly part of the first floor, although the windows are not all blocked. The house on the right has a near-symmetrical facade with a near-central door and a single light window adjacent to it. It contains a two-light window on each side of the ground floor. The first floor has three two-light windows, the central one with its mullion removed. There are indications of possible further blocked windows. The second floor has blocked windows across the entire elevation.
