Description
New Laith is a detached house located to the south-west of Mellor Lane, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of hammer dressed stone and features a stone slate roof that is covered in bitumen. The gable ends have copings supported by carved kneelers, and there are two ashlar gable stacks, one of which is truncated. The house is two storeys high and has a modern flat-roofed extension on the left side, along with a single-storey lean-to extension on the right that includes an entrance and a two-light stone mullioned window.
On the south-east elevation, there is a later central door set within a recent porch, flanked by a three-light and a two-light stone mullioned window. The first floor features a central five-light stone mullioned window, with the centre light blocked, and a three-light window on each side. The rear of the house has various later openings.
