Description
Lower Green Gate and Barn is a terrace that was formerly three dwellings, with a barn attached at a right angle by a later extension. It dates from the early 19th century, while the barn likely dates from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a recently replaced stone slate roof, along with gable copings and three chimneys. It stands two storeys tall, with alterations made to the ground floor, which has two entrances. The front elevation includes four large single light windows that are of a later date. On the first floor, there are six three-light stone mullioned windows, three of which were originally part of a single twelve-light window, now with three lights blocked. At the rear, the first floor has two three-light, one four-light, and one two-light stone mullioned window. The barn, located to the left, has a large central doorway on the east side with a deep lintel resting on rounded corbels, and a small vent above it with a semi-circular head.
