Description
Orchard Hey and the adjoining barn date from the early to mid 18th century. The house is rendered, while the barn is constructed from coursed rubble and features a pitched stone slate roof with stone brackets and two stone stacks. The building stands two storeys high.
On the south elevation of the house, the ground floor includes one five-light stone mullioned window, one three-light stone mullioned window, and one two-light stone mullioned window, all with double chamfers. The first floor has one five-light stone mullioned window with chamfers and one three-light stone mullioned window.
The barn features a large doorway, which is partially blocked, with a deep lintel and quoins, along with one small later window and a lean-to extension. On the east gable, the ground floor has one doorway and one single light window, while the first floor has one three-light stone mullioned window with chamfers. The north elevation includes a modern lean-to extension, a large doorway with a large stone lintel, two later windows, and a small doorway. The west gable has two single light windows.
