Description
Tong Lee is a detached house dating from 1732, with some rebuilding. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable on the west side. There is a former ashlar stack with water tabling on the east gable. The house has two storeys.
On the south elevation, the ground floor includes an entrance with a deep lintel, quoins, and chamfered reveals, flanked by two 4-light stone mullioned windows, both with one mullion removed, and a 2-light stone mullioned window with a removed mullion, along with a later single light window. The first floor has two 4-light stone mullioned windows and one 2-light window, all double chamfered and with one mullion removed, plus a later single light window.
The east gable features an entrance with a deep lintel and quoins, which bears the inscription "G S G S 17 3 2," referring to George Shaw and Gertrude Shaw. Next to the doorway is a former 'fire window' with a semicircular false arch in a deep lintel. The north elevation has one 2-light stone mullioned window and one later single light window.
